Gentoo Labs, a client of ours, is an educational technology company that helps students prepare for professional and licensure exams. They currently have 40+ applications in the iOS and Android Marketplace, and are providing course materials for the NREMT-EMT, CCRN, NCLEX-RN and ASVAB Military Entrance Test, to mention a few. They offer separate applications for each exam to make it convenient for students who wish to focus just on the course material that is important to them.
Our client wanted to reduce the amount of time taken to create an application for every competitive exam and, in turn, reduce the development cost. They wanted to step up the performance and UI/UX of their apps to be more intuitive and blazing fast. To cater to the users with connectivity issues, they wished to add offline support to their apps. To make the learning experience more playful and engaging, they wanted to add gamification features to their app.
After carefully analyzing the requirements of our clients, we suggested that they hire an iOS developer, an Android developer, and a Full Stack Web Developer to work with an onsite business analyst. The web developer created a self-service application that can be used by anyone on a team to configure the app and generate the bundle without writing a single line of code. This was a huge hit, and it saved our client a fortune in development costs.
The iOS and Android developers collaborated to come up with a uniform and efficient architecture that would handle large volumes of data. The course contents would be fetched from web services hosted in AWS. The apps also got their new and sheen UI/UX that along with the gamification features, was a huge hit among their mobile app users. The team also developed a marketing website for Gentoo using Angular.
